Kinnel kitchen refit

Decided to refit the kitchen as Kylie wants on-demand hot water. (New kitchen means gas, which means we can get an infinity water heater.)

Finished

Been a while since the last update, but it's done!

Comparison

New benchtop and gas cooking!

Tiled the windowsill:

Benchtop now extends to the whole of the kitchen and a new sink in place:

Gas hob and splash back installed. However, during that process we noticed things were not level. Turns out the floor is not level! So now we have a gap at the top of the cupboards which will need fixing will larger doors:

Benchtop is in

Some minor change and one large one. We have a new benchtop. Made of plywood, it's possibly temporary, but it's a very cheap option, looks nice, and if it's suitable pretty easy to replace.

Corner unit is done:

Pantry has automatic lights:

New benchtop:

Dinner!

Oven and floor

New oven is in and it's nice and clean! More door fronts on plus the large pantry doors. Floor is slowly coming up. The floor pieces are held down by lots of small staples which need to be individually removed, so time consuming and not good for the back!

Slow progress, but progress

Some small changes but getting more like a kitchen. Scored a bargain with the flooring, $3500 of floor for $600! That's going in soon once we finish the walls.

Nice new utensil drawer:

Made some wheat beer:

Started the big job of fixing hinges to the new doors:

All require the holes drilling, which takes a lot of measuring and checking:

But turns out to fit:

And got some handles, so can fit drawer fronts:

Gas is here, and we have new shelves and stuff

New shelves in the pantry along with some power for the microwave (and have power in the roof space). Doors will be going on the pantry once we have a floor down.

Have also moved the oven along to final position.

Dishwasher now secured in place, new units installed, and power run behind to feed to fridge (so it no longer uses the power points above the bench).

Drawer installed along the kick board area to utilise a normally wasted space.

Gas on demand hooked up. Long hot showers now available :)

Rangehood and panelling gone

Rarely used rangehood and Swedish panels are no more.

Cooker cabinet removed

The full height cabinet has been removed opening up the bench space.

Pantry shortened

The wall of the pantry has been removed opening the space as you walk in.

Microwave moved out as we look to get rid of the built in full height unit. Cupboard next to dishwasher switched to have the door at the front and a temporary 'pantry' installed.

Destruction starts - Wall out and island created

Some things will happen no matter which design we go with. First off the 'walls' around the fridge have to come out. And the bench is chopped to make an island so we can see how it fits and works.
